Cyclo Tour Dong Ba Market – Ho Quyen Tiger Arena – Tu Hieu Pagoda – An Dinh Palace
Itinerary
Pick up from hotel by cyclo to Dong Ba Market. From here transfer by vehicle to the beautiful pagoda of Tu Hieu which dates back to 1843. Located in a forest of pine trees, this monastery was once the home of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. What most interesting at the pagoda are the eunuch tombs from the former Nguyen Dynasty which in the whole city of Hue are only found here. Continue to Ho Quyen, which was an arena where duels between elephants and tigers were fought for the entertainment of former Nguyen Emperors. The last fight was held here in 1904, you can climb the nearby ramparts and gaze down upon the arena where the animals once fought. At the end of the tour, visit An Dinh Palace (closed on Mondays) where magnificent wall and ceiling murals can be seen, as well as the stunning façade where oriental and European designs are integrated.
